THE SERVICE
DVE offers other important editorial services that don't neatly fall into categories, as described below. If you don't see what you are looking for, though, we are always open to customizing services to meet your needs.
Style Guide Creation
If you have a completed project but don't have a style guide to ensure consistency moving forward, a DVE editor can review your material and create one for you. This is particularly important for books, both fiction and nonfiction (and especially for series!), marketing materials, and websites to ensure consistency across your brand. Many companies also retain a house style for their business so that all consumer-facing products and materials are consistent in style, format, spelling, and so forth.
Indexing
Writing a nonfiction book is hard enough, but compiling an index after you've done so? That's brutal! So let DVE help. We have experienced indexers who can review your finished project and do this intricate work for you.
Fact-Checking
It's easy to get dinged these days when getting the facts wrong. While DVE isn't an expert in all things, in many cases, we do have the knowledge and resources to help fact-check projects of all kinds.
Transcription
Transcribing is a monotonous task, but somebody has to do it! Whether you have an audio recording you need transcribed or already have an existing transcription that is in rough shape and needs to be reviewed and edited, we're happy to lend a hand.
THE RATES
Miscellaneous projects are invoiced by the hour, based on the scope and difficulty of the project. Below are the common rate ranges for the aforementioned services. Estimated paces reflect 250 words per page, which is the industry standard.
Please note: Double Vision’s rates are based on the standard rates set by the Editorial Freelancers Association.
Rate and estimated paces are variable on a project-by-project basis.
